Okay, so that's a tad unfair, but yet again McKellen steals the show from a competent cast of actors. X3 is not a... more bad film, but it is fair to say that it fails to live up to the benchmark set by Bryan Singer with the first two films in the series. While the film is billed as The Last Stand, the box office receipts will ensure that this is certainly not the case. The question is, which characters and storylines are still able to be used after X3? A desire on the part of the film-makers to include every character and situation they could think of in X3 leaves slim pickings for X4 and beyond. Brett Ratner has done a creditable if unspectacular job with the material, however the crush of material in a film that clocks in just under two hours means that many stories and relationships are underdeveloped. This is most jarring as these aspects were a real strength in Singer's films.

With possibly a better story line than the second in the series this movie was good Marvel type Fare from start to finish. Hugh... more Jackman, as always, made Wolverine rule the screen with the force of his personality.....and Ian MacKellan as Magneto always has a prescence too. Worth a look.
