The movie moves slowly, and doesn?t do a... more very good job of drawing you in. Some actors either Scottish themselves or putting on the accent lay it on a little thick in parts so much so that you can?t understand them. Jonny Lee Miller does a great job as Obree but Billy Boyd ?try as he might, can?t escape the Hobbit stigma. It?s like Robin Williams trying to be dramatic- it just doesn?t work. The movie delves into Obree?s depression which at times is comical ? though not the intention. The end images of the film seem to mimic the teaser at the end of a horror movie, as if telling you there will be a sequel, but how does one make a sequel of a true life story? Not something I?d recommend seeing, unless addicted to the overused underdog plot or an Obree buff. Summary: Lots of bikes, lacking heart.

    AstarReviewed at 12:00PM on 9 May 2007Pretty Good - While I didn't know anything about the real life story of Graeme Obree, I found the movie interesting and some what inspirational as all those stories of 'coming from nothing to achieve everything can be'. Easy to... more predict, I wasn't drawn in as much as I hoped, but overall not bad.

I just wanted to talk directly to the New Zealand cinema-going public and say that I think you might like the story. Graeme Obree's story has been inspirational... more to me and I hope you feel the same if you go and see the film. If you've seen it already, thanks for taking the time! Douglas Mackinnon
