SpindleReviewed at 10:39PM on 19 Jul 2007Shrek - Downhill Slide - The first two Shrek movies were always going to be a tough act to follow and unfortunately the third in the series just doesn’t measure up. This film has some funny scenes but suffers from being written by a committee.... more It has too many unimportant characters. Prince Charming is too weak as the main villain and needs a rescued spoiled brat princess for motivation. A Paris Hilton clone with lines like; “What do you mean, you don’t have a Palace, get one. I’m not living in this dump,” would do nicely. Together they could scheme to take over Far Far Away and give more direction and purpose to the plot. This change could also add the sort of witty satirical humour found in the earlier films. Artie as a character and would be King is okay but I could have done without the scenes set in the very American Cliché High School. Overall the movie is short on action scenes, long on warm fuzzy speeches but is still something Shrek fans will want to see.

WeezieReviewed at 03:26PM on 26 Jul 2007Great, But Not Spectular - If you go into this movie without any particular expectations, without trying to compare it to its two predecessors, then you'll love it. It cracked me up, and was definitely the best movie I'd seen in a long time. But... more it has to be remembered that sequels rarely match the genius of the original movie, and as this is now the third Shrek movie, it is bound to disappoint a lot of Shrek fans.
