I... more generally don't like American cliches but thought I may be able to stand this movie, which turned out to not be true. Rather than the off center genius I expected I found it conterived and extremely annoying. As for it being a comedy, I only recall laughing once and even the dance sequence, which was the only reason I persevered which watching, was completely pointless. I guess some people will connect with this film in a way I failed to. I have heard it said you need to be in a certain place to watch this film, I believe it requires even more than a expansive imagination and acceptance to find this film in the least bit entertaining.

It is strange and unusual and the characters most definitely not what you find regularly. Efren Ramirez stars... more as Pedro the foreign exchange student and Tina Majorino as the friend. Napoleon Dynamite- the character is really intricate in his eccentricities and you really feel as if you?re on the ride with him. Jon Heder is hilarious, and it?s completely effortless. It may not be to some people?s tastes as the film doesn?t really follow any plotline or line whatsoever, it tends to move at a pace all of it?s own, but it is definitely one to watch at some point.

    suzie001Reviewed at 09:45AM on 19 Aug 2005Strangley Funny - this movie is kind of retarted, but in a good way. its pretty stupid but funny at the same time. its kinda like that movie, "kung pow," its funny but retarted and stupid at the same time. napoleon is a dork with a... more BIIIIIG imagination, deb is just a dork (no offense), and pedro is the new guy at school, and he is cool! (not in the movie). you know those shirts that say, "vote for pedro"? well, if u ask someone who theyd really vote for, theyd probably say pedro, but if he really went to ur skewl, ud probably vote 4 summer, cuz i would. everyone knows that it is hard 4 a dorky loser to in! it is very rare. the movie kinda deals with real life, for a loser, so if u can relate 2 napoleon, than i feel bad 4 u... and remember pplz... VOTE 4 SUMMER!
