French Film Festival: One Wild Moment
In this classy reimagining of Claude Berri’s classic film One Wild Moment, two middle-aged men go on a summer holiday with their teenage daughters. Strict rules and boredom for the two girls lead to a complicated liaison that needs to be kept secret – but the truth will come out, with alarming consequences. Powerhouse actors Vincent Cassel (also starring in this year’s Festival drama Mon Roi) and François Cluzet (Turning Tide – Festival 2014) share the screen for the first time in this risqué and intoxicating comedy set on the exotic Corsican coastline. Their easy-going rapport completes a fine cast that introduces Lola Le Lann as the alluring Louna. Jean-Francois Richet smoothly directs proceedings, making the most of the luxurious setting. It’s certainly a change of pace from his 2008 crime epic Mesrine, which also starred Cassel. A perfect film for lovers of gorgeous scenery and equally gorgeous performers getting up to no good, One Wild Moment is the epitome of stylish entertainment. The pairing of the great Cassel and Cluzet makes this a Festival highlight.
