1. zoelatReviewed at 05:56PM on 15 Aug 2006Colour Me A Malkovich Fan - Having long been a great admirer of John Malkovich's work, while thinking Stanley Kubrick to be one of cinema's geniuses, I expected a great deal of this movie. I understand that this copycat is a real person! As he... more looks nothing like Kubrick, he did very well. Apparently, his real-life son contacted the film-makers to express his interest in the project; that he was ignored, indeed his enquiry was never answered, it must be poignant for him to view the film. It is entertaining, Malkovich is pretty good value, but it soon attains a sense of "sameness" as incident after incident is pretty much the same. The cast includes a good number of "familiar" character actors, so that is good; I wonder how Kubrick himself would have done with the story, as I found his 1968 "2001, A Space Odyssey" was truly a landmark film, which should be viewed on a large screen! All in all, I would allocate 7/10 for "Colour me Kubrick"...have a look at it.
