Some parts had me laughing harder than I have all year... but these were located between some seriously rude/racist segments. Steer... more clear if you are easily offended... especially if you are Jewish! Not really my cup of tea.

It is the subtelty that makes Borat such a great film, and the lack... more of understanding of this subtlety on the part of Borat's "victims" that enable it to be so good. Many of the bad reviews that I have read of this film seem to miss the point , and if one thinks of this more like a documentary than a comedy, then the commentary on American society that underpins the film is both fascinating and startling. Baron Cohen's daring and dedication to staying in character provide the highlights of the film, and you often find yourself squirming in your seat, not quite believing that he would go so far, cameras or not. And more than once I would say that he put himself in actual physical danger. The film's commercial success undoubtedly stems from the mass of publicity it managed to garner prior to release, but it lives up to all the hype.

    KriteekReviewed at 02:57PM on 12 Feb 2007Missing The Point? - I went to this Movie as a seasoned Ali G/Borat fan and was expecting a lot and yet excpecting to be possibly disappointed. What I got was the most laughing out loud I have ever done since I dont know when. Yeah there... more were over the top scenes, and yeah there was a naked fat guy and Male Genitalia, but amongst the obvious low-brow humour there were intelligent digs at a broad spectrum of American culture. If you were offended by this movie, or couldnt see the humour in it, then perhaps like the many he fooled, 'You Missed The Point'.

It was a bit too unsubtle for me but if you like the American pie-in-your-face style of humour you may find it funnier than I did. There were some... more worrying inconsistencies like how-come a guy who lists `watching womens make toilet' as one of his hobbies doesnt know how to use a toilet himself. And how come they found it neccesary to black-out the penises in the wrestling scene but not the scrotum especially as we had already been treated to some charming pictures of Borak's son's genital assets. 5 out of 10 from me and don,t worry if you miss it.

    msdeltoroReviewed at 04:44PM on 31 Jan 2007Not What I Expected - if ure goin thru a 'i think all americans are stupid etc phase' then u will find this film fantastically embarrassingly funny but personally i felt this film was a reflection of a poor effort of the television series... more Ali G show been thrown together in one heap and then pasted together in the effort to fill up 90mins of cinema time that i wont be able to get back.when the end credits arrived on the screen i was left with my barely eaten popcorn and watery coke with the look of 'is that it'?my advice-wait till the film arrives on dvd and then maybe wait till it hits the back catalogue section where u will only have to fork out a dollar to see this film.

    BrinReviewed at 02:34PM on 11 Jan 2007Borat Disappointing - I found Borat wasted an opportunity to make a very clever movie about the cultural differences between east and west. There were a few smatterings of contact that seemed genuine but most seemed orchestrated and... more predicable. To make up for the lack of ideas and story line he tried to offend with ugly male naked fighting, defecating in a plastic bag and bringing it to the dinner table and the constant talk about vaginas to name a few. I found it disappointing with the only offence being that I paid money to see it. I think some people are giving positive reviews because they think they should. It?s a bit like the emperor and his new clothes, people saying what they think they should instead of the truth. A more genuine contact with real people in real situations and a worthwhile storyline would have improved this movie. As it is don?t waste your money on this movie.
